This poster is a personal exploration of culture and the loss of, and research on imperialism and its relationship with the English language.
The premise of this infographic poster project came through my correspondence with a professor I shared a cultural background with whom I had taken a course with the previous quarter titled “British Literature in the West Indies.”
Two books that inspired the research was “A Small Place” by Jamaica Kincaid and “Minor Feelings” by Cathy Park Hong, in which both authors examine their loss of mother tongue due to colonization and imperialism and its impact on their identity and belonging.
